#GiveAHug – A brave boy’s inspiring wish

Yesterday was Give-a-Hug Day, a heartwarming initiative started by 8-year-old Sebastian Yanquelevech as a special way to support his mom as he undergoes a second brain tumour operation. Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada heard about Sebastian’s story last week and wanted to help in any way we could.

All over Twitter, Facebook, and even YouTube, on March 5th, people sent virtual hugs to Sebastian and his mom Nadine, to help bring them both a bit of positive energy before, during and after the surgery, and to show brain tumour survivors right across the country that they are loved.

Take a look at this incredible video we were sent of Mrs. Zimmerman’s grade 3/4 class from Amherstburg, Ontario sending virtual hugs to Sebastian and Nadine:

We captured a snapshot of the day’s hugs and smiles, and wanted to share them with you in the Storify below! And best news of all, Sebastian made it out of surgery and is recovering well in the hospital. We’re thinking of you Seba and send you and your mom lots of hugs and wishes for a speedy recovery!

  1. I’m with Anita. We should have a National Hug Day.
